Summer Reads

The weather is just right, you walk outside and pick your favorite tree, the next thing you know you're halfway done with a book you just started. It's the freedom of summer. You see it all the time whether its poolside, bedside, or just outside, reading is one of the best relaxations of summer. Only recently have I really started picking up books. I usually find myself to have such a short attention span that I can never read for too long, therefore never finishing a book. That was until several months ago I picked up Divergent by Veronica Roth. Never had I been so excited to read a book in so long that I finished the series within a few days. Then it was The Fault in Our Stars by John Green followed by Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. Since then, I have always had a book in hand, usually finding the time to read while waiting for the metro or right before bed. Those always seem to be the most convenient times to read. But now with summer in full blast it is time to become a bookworm and read the books I have been wanting to for awhile now.

These are the books I currently have stacked up to read. You will notice that I have The Fault in Our Stars is in this pile which I just said I read. I have even reread certain parts before going to see the movie last month. The book was so well written that I feel the need to reread the whole thing again before summer ends. Now I have become one of THOSE people! I always make fun of my sister for rereading books (which she does all the time) because I never felt the need to read through something again. But if you really think about it, how many times have you seen your favorite movie? Probably too many times to actually give me a number. Books are the same exact way. Grant it, it takes a bit longer to read than to get through than an hour and half movie, but regardless they are equally enjoyable. You can still relate to characters and feel all the emotions that you would when you sit down and watch a movie. I might have even felt more emotional reading The Fault in Our Stars than when watching the movie. Never thought that would happen.

Recently, I have also had the need to read books before I see the movie. This is why I am currently almost finished with The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp which also happens to be a movie in which Shailene Woodley acts in. She just happens to be acting in all the movies that originated from good books right now. I have also learned that If I Stay by Gayle Foreman is going to be released as a movie as well. This book came into my hands on my birthday a few weeks ago after this book popped up on my recommended books on Amazon. Unfortunately, I had the opportunity of seeing a trailer for this book gone movie when I saw The Fault in Our Stars in theaters. I did not want any spoilers of what would happen, but I guess that didn't happen...oh well.

There are still several books on my wishlist that I need to pick up once I finish these suckers. Feel free to read along with me or if you read any of the books I mentioned, let me know what you thought. Totally going to start a book club here! Also, if anyone has any good recommendations for books that I should add to my summer reading list or just to read at some point I am open to pretty much anything at the moment. Get me while I still like reading, because this could just be a random kick that I could drop in a heartbeat. Hopefully I won't though, so recommend something worth reading!
